Ewbank
Ewbank is the most recent acquisition of the Earlex Group. A household name to many people, Ewbank is best known for its carpet sweepers which were a feature of virtually every British home throughout the 50's and 60's. However, the company also produces a successful range of other household cleaning-related products such as shampooers, cordless cleaners, mops and polishes. There are very strong synergies between Ewbank and Earlex which make the company's purchase perfectly timed. With more than 15 years' experience of the hardware and DIY retail markets behind it, Earlex has the detailed knowledge, understanding and presence that Ewbank needs in order to expand. It is a rare thing to acquire a company whose name still inspires such high levels of goodwill and affection. Now, having learnt of the brand's re-emergence, buyers have been reassured to see it is in good hands. Investment- Ambition is one thing, dedication to good design is another, but without a commitment to continuous investment, the Earlex Group would still be operating out of its original premises near Guildford. Even minimal changes to the design or specification of a product can entail a complete change of tooling which, if it contains 20-30 plastic injection moulded parts, requires significant investment. Investment at Ewbank was virtually non-existent before the Earlex Group took control. An ambitious business strategy - including a new product development programme - will see Ewbank benefiting from the same lean production principles as the other group companies as well as increased production and storage capacity to reduce delivery times. Bringing the whole operation up to speed will take time and patience but this is one investment we are determined to make and one we know the great British public, in particular, will welcome with open arms. |
