No other
British manufacturer offers such a wide range of power cord sets as Clarke
Cable, which was acquired by the Earlex Group in 1997. The company was
originally known for supplying cable assemblies for small domestic appliances.
Now, Clarke Cable is easily distinguished in the market by its constant
innovations and reputation for reliable, well-made products. The customer
base now includes manufacturers of power tools, electric fires, IT equipment,
cleaning equipment, commercial catering and even sheep-shearing tools.
Clarke Cable operates in a highly competitive market and one that is especially
prone to me-too products whose producers have little or no regard for
product safety approvals. For that reason, the company invests heavily
in protecting its worldwide patents and in ensuring that safety standards
and quality marks are rigorously upheld. Indeed, Clarke Cable was one
of the first companies in the UK to achieve BS5750 accreditation back
in 1986.
Inspiration-
We
see our role at Clarke Cable as developing and delivering products which
will help solve our customers' problems, enabling them to sell into a
wider range of markets. The factory has been designed to offer fast response
times, J.I.T., Kanban and a host of solutions to cable requirements. From
one manufacturing source Clarkes can offer endless configurations of plugs
for most world-wide markets. Homes and offices have become a haven for
plugs and cables and this has proved an excellent opportunity for Clarke
Cable to exploit and develop. With new ideas such as 'Y' connectors and
readable plugs, Clarke Cable has eagerly responded to markets that demand
easier, simpler, safer wiring. And, as no two world markets have exactly
the same energy requirements or legislation, the company now sits at the
centre of an ever-changing growth industry with global implications. It
is one that shows no sign of tiring of our expertise, commitment to good
value and high manufacturing standards.
