DIY Wallpaper Stripper WS125

DIY Wallpaper Stripper WS125

Simple yet effective wallpaper steamer

The Earlex DIY wallpaper steamer is one of our bestselling wallpaper removal systems. The simplicity of the product makes it ideal for first time users, no previous experience is required.

This lightweight unit has a 2kw heating element to heat up the water inside. It can take up to 4 litres of water, which means it’s perfect for all small to medium jobs and provides up to 70 minutes steamer time from one fill. The system only uses water, no chemicals are needed so it’s both environmentally friendly and cost effective to use. The easy to fill tank has a neat little screw cap lid, the perfect size for filling from the tap. The top of the unit has a handy carry handle for moving around.

Once the element has heated the water and steam produced, it passes through the hose and comes out of the translucent steamer plate. The plate is translucent to provide you with better visibility when placing on the wallpaper. It also allows you to see any condensed water when working overhead.

When the steam plate is held up against the wall, damp hot air particles pass through the paper; it saturates the backing and partially dissolves the old wallpaper paste releasing the old paper from the wall.

All Earlex wallpaper streamers have a cool to touch hose, over-pressure safety valve, anti-discharge valve and suck-back valve, all designed for your safety.

Q. Can I put any wallpaper stripping additives in my unit?
A. Although some of these additives are designed for wallpaper strippers they are not recommended for ours, as they can damage internal components.

Q. How do I remove stubborn paper?
A. Score the paper either with a knife or perforating tool then use steamer as normal.

Q. Can’t I just hold the plate on for longer?
A. Do not hold it in the same spot for more than 10 seconds, as there is a risk it will burst the plaster underneath.

Q. How close can I get to light switches with the plate?
A. Do not allow water or steam to enter light switches or power points. Isolate the power at the main fuse box and then remove the face plate. This will allow you to remove any old paper that is stuck behind the socket/switch by hand with a damp sponge. Replace face plate when finished.

Q. Is it safe to remove Artex?
A. Normally Artex can be removed using the same method for wallpaper although the steam time will be longer. CAUTION: Some textured finishes may contain asbestos which may be hazardous to health and which are subject to licensing controls operated by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive).

Q. How about ceilings?
A. Always wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) when using any Earlex appliance. We recommend that you will need eye and hand protection due to possible hot water discharge from condensing steam.
